Murdered taxi driver to be buried in Gweru

 BIKITA – Darlington Madzokere, a taxi driver who was shot and killed by robbers at Nyika Growth Point will be buried at Mutasa Cemetery in Gweru tomorrow.

Madzokere was shot in a crossfire at Elhanna Food Shop at around 5:30 pm on Saturday.

Madzokere’s brother Nyengeterai Madzokere confirmed the burial arrangements in an interview with The Mirror.

Masvingo Police spokesperson Kudakwashe Dhewa the told The Mirror that the matter is being investigated.

Contrary to earlier reports that the deceased was shot at a service station, latest reports indicate that four unidentified men entered the shop and demanded cash and cell phones from customers in the shop and were given an undisclosed amount of money and cell phones.

They robbers then entered Glow Supermarket and demanded cell phones and cash. They fired two shots and one of them hit Madzokere on the shoulder.

The suspects were allegedly driving a sky blue Toyota Honda Fit with registration number AFO3359.

Madzokere was rushed to Silveira Mission Hospital and transferred to Masvingo Provincial Hospital where he died at around 2pm on Sunday.
