MASVINGO – Nomore Moyo (30) of Chivasa Village under Chief Machebadza in Mberengwa will serve the next 20 years in prison after he was caught by Police carrying 75kg of copper cables stolen from a ZETDC line.
He will be 50 years old when he comes out of prison and the value of the cables is RTGS$1,24 million.

Moyo appeared before Masvingo Magistrate Patience Madondo last week facing theft charges.
The State told the court that on May 21, 2022 Police officers on a motorized patrol in Mucheke came across the accused person. He dropped the sack he was carrying and took to his heels but he was caught and arrested.

Moyo volunteered to lead Police to Morningside where he had cut 100 metres by 25 mm of the copper cables from ZEDTC infrastructure. He also took them to Coronation Farm where he had done the same.
The cables were taken to Zimpost where they weighed 75 kg.
Magistrate Madondo sentenced Moyo to 20 years in prison.
