MSU to premiere Independence film ‘Tsvakai’

ZVISHAVANE – Midlands State University‘s department of Media, Communication, Film and Theatre Arts is set to premiere its highly anticipated movie titled ‘Tsvakai’.

The movie will be premiered on April 18 2022, The Mirror has been told the director Godknows Chera who is also a lecturer in the department.

The movie is a modified version of their award winning short film with the same title which was voted the best short film for 2021 during the Zimbabwe International Film festival.

The storyline was written by Given Mufori and it mirrors societal happenings before and after the liberation.

One of the main characters is ‘Dambudzo’ who was troubled as he sought to make his people happy. In the end he was vindicated.

Godknows Chera said that the movie was by public demand.

“The movie is an amplification of our culture and tradition. It is a modification of the short film that won an award”, he said.

The 63 minutes movie features Tafadzwa Rutendo Mavhura as Tsvakai, Brighton Munaku as Dambudzo,Zvishavane’s own community member Kudzai Marudzi as Tonde.https://masvingomirror.com/
