Mountaineers off to winning start in T20

HARARE-Mega Market Mountaineers batsman PJ Moor put up a fine innings of 59 not out and  gave the Mountain Goats an easy six wicket victory over Lions in their  opening match of the 2022/23 Domestic T20 Competition played at Old Hararians yesterday.

Moor was supported by Brian Bennet who scored 41 runs off 22 balls.

The match had to be reduced to 15 overs per side after a delayed start.

Coach Njabulo Ncube said his charges have started well and he is looking forward to a good game today as they take on the defending champions Eagles.

“We started off well. We are simply going into today’s game to entertain and nothing more,” he said.

Elsewhere Tuskers beat the defending champions Eagles by eight wickets. Thanks to bowler Ernest Masuku who took three wickets. Tanu Makoni also contributed to Tuskers victory by scoring 42 not out. The match was played at Harare Sports Club.

Overnight rain delayed the start and the match had to be reduced to 13 overs a side.

In another match, Rhinos won by six wickets against Rocks. Antum Naqvi helped Rhinos to win after taking a total of four wickets.

 Naqvi was also unbeaten with 26 runs  scored off 25 balls
