MASVINGO – Police has a motorist to thank after he tipped them about robbers who had boarded his car at Dhiyo Business Centre in Masvingo.
After the tip, Police arrested the robbers at Mandamabwe Tollgate in Chivi this week leading to the clearing of 19 cases of robberies committed in Gweru, Kwekwe, Zvishavane, Masvingo and Kadoma
Police recovered goods worth US$15000 after arresting the four robbers.
Jacob Enjoyment Danda (36) ,Mikel Moyo also known as Joseph Ushe (27), Tinashe Marufu (27) and Prince Ncube also known as Regis Tame (37) were arrested on February 25 and 26 , 2024.
Masvingo Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa said on February 25, 2024 at around 1pm the accused persons broke and entered a house in Zimre Park, Masvingo.
They used iron bars and machetes to rob the occupants in the house. They got away with laptops and cellphones. Mikel Moyo and Jacob Danda went to Dhiyo Business Centre and boarded a private car traveling towards Bulawayo.
The owner of the vehicle became suspicious and communicated with Police leading to the arrest of the two accused at Mhandamambwe Tollgate. They recovered three laptops, iron bars and six iphones, torch and screw drivers.
The two led to the arrest of their colleagues Ncube and Marufu in Zaka on Feburuary 26, 2024. The accused persons cleared 19 robbery and two unlawful entry cases in Masvingo.
Laptops, cellphones, clothes and other accessories were recovered from Zvishavane, Kadoma, Kwekwe, Gweru and Zaka.
