KWEKWE – Lucia Mkandla has with immediate effect been appointed the substantive town clerk of the industrial town of Kwekwe.
This is according to a letter of confirmation dated April 11, 2022 from the Local Government Board which is in the hands of The Mirror.
Kwekwe Mayor Future Titora also confirmed the development and hailed the appointment of Mkandla as a positive development.
Mkandla has held the fort as acting town clerk since 2017 when former town clerk Emmanuel Musara retired.
Appointment paper in the hands of The Mirror indicate that she was by far the best candidate from those who attended interviews for the position.
“The appointment of Mrs Lucia Mkandla followed thorough deliberations and taking into account everything required.
“The Local Government Board was satisfied with the above candidate who had a distinct edge over all other candidates in terms of experience and exposure.
“The Local Government Board on 28 January, 2022 resolved through Resolution number LGB 002/2022 and acting upon the powers vested in the Board approves the appointment of Mrs Lucia Mkandla to the position of Town Clerk for the City of Kwekwe…” reads part of the letter.
“As a City we are excited and proud that the Local Government Board has appointed Mkandla as the substantive town clerk. We have confidence that she will take the City to a greater level,” said Titora.
