MASVINGO – The Mirror on Saturday night held its 2021 worker of the year awardsat Nyuni Mountain Lodge at the shore of Lake Mutirikwi in Masvingo.
Four outstanding workers walked away with prizes at a function in which former Reuters News Agency bureau chief for Southern Africa, Chris Chinake was the guest of honour. Also gracing the occasion was VPCG Chief Operating Officer, Lead trainer at World Association of Newspapers, Women in News Programme and former Alpha Media Chief Executive Officer Vincent Kahiya.

The grand prize of the night went to Mike Mandigora who was adjudged worker of the year for spearheading the company’s digitalization and monetization process which took a course in earnest in 2020. “Mandigora was the chief driver behind The Mirror’s digitalization process. He did not only ensure that our digital platforms; Website, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram were up and running but he came with strategies that we enjoy huge traffic on them.

“He operationalized our reverse billing contract with Econet and clinched an agent dealership with ZB Bank,” said Mirror consultant Matthew Takaona. Mandigora walked away with RTGS$30 000, a trophy, and a certificate.
The other winners were Moses Madyira who was voted both Reporter and Student of The Year. His coverage of Chikomba District was described as outstanding by Takaona.Madyira got RTGS$15 000, a certificate and a trophy.

Ketsia Dumbu, an accounts intern is The Mirror’s Most Professional Worker. She was described as diligent, hardwork ing, alert, punctual and courteous.
Miriam Mugovera, a part-time cleaner with the company was adjudged The Best Achiever. Mugovera and Dumbu walked away with certificates and RTGS$15 000 each.
