Mirror Editor’s car ransacked


MASVINGO – Suspects whose motive is to strip cars of their expensive coil packs hit Mirror Editor, Nkulumani Mlambo’s vehicle which was packed at his place of residence in Rhodhene last night.

They stripped the Toyota RunX of its coil pack consisting of four coils valued at US$60 each.

To gain entry into the car, the suspects broke the rear quarter glass and opened the bonnet after which they cut out the coil pack. The Mirror established this morning that the coils are in short supply and when you get them, they cost anything from US$60 each which means the full set goes for US$240.

The Mirror phoned mechanics in Harare and Masvingo and was told that the coil packs are scarce and can only be found at car breakers. In addition the thieves got away with the car’s rear view mirrors.

Mlambo warned Masvingo residents to jealously guard their cars, particularly the RunX as thieves are going for its parts.

The matter has been reported to the Police under RRB 4495575.

Mlambo also lost RTGS$2 000 from the car including his identity and business cards that were in the dashboard. The Mirror understands that thieves also struck on another car in the same neighbourhood. https://masvingomirror.com
