MIRROR REPORTER

MASVINGO – As per its tradition The Mirror has chosen its Best Worker for 2023.

Nomatter Mwanyisa, the publishing company’s manager and Elizabeth Mashiri the deputy manager stand neck to neck as the best achievers for 2023.

Giving a citation for the prizes at an impromptu gathering of staff today, Matthew Takaona said Mwanyisa has increased the company’s vigilance to its environment. He said this saw the company up to date with statutory requirements, staff welfare and communication with its key publics.

Takaona however, said that the year remained difficult for The Mirror as it has been for all other media organisations due to a number of factors including economic hardships, social media and dwindling advertising revenue.

“Mashiri who is responsible for the marketing portfolio held fort as economic factors continued to work against our favour. She is an achieve and must be hailed for making it possible for the company to just hold on,” said Takaona.

He said that Elizabeth was particularly noticeable for successfully accomplishing her projects.

Garikai Mafirakureva who is the editor of The Mirror was picked as the best journalist of the year.

“Mafirakureva has the best trending stories not just for The Mirror but for any media house in the country. His stories made an impact and one story that comes to mind is former Minister Dzingai Mutumbuka’s US$600 000 Chisipite house debacle. His stories attracts international attention and they are among the most retweeted stories.

“The stories tackle relevant issues and in particular the corrosive corruption that has brought Zimbabwe down to its knees. This is the kind of journalism that we are proud of at The Mirror”, said Takaona.
