ZVISHAVANE – Platinum mining giant Mimosa Company has donated 118 cattle to two wards in Zvishavane under the Cattle Revitalisation Scheme.

Ward 5 Mhondongori and Ward 19 Kromedraai received the cattle at a function held at Mtshingwe Primary School last Thursday.

The objective of the scheme which was started in 2015 is to increase the size of the herd and ensure that the company’s mantra of investing beyond mining leaves a long lasting legacy to the surrounding community.

Of the 118 cattle, 45 are bulls and 73 are heifers. Out of that Mhondongori gets 18 bulls and 33 heifers to be distributed among its 11 villages while Kromedraai gets 19 bulls and 32 heifers for its 7 villages.

Mimosa general manager Stephen Ndiyamba attended the ceremony with Zvishavane-Ngezi MP Dumizweni Mahwite as the guest of honor. Three local chiefs, Masunda, Mafala and Mapanzure were present at the ceremony.

The project is one of the activities that Mimosa is undertaking under its investing beyond mining mantra. The programme was started in 2015 with 285 bulls and 36 heifers. In order to improve efficiency in the running of the project, Mimosa recently procured a vehicle to be used by Zvishavane Veterinary Department.

Ndiyamba said that his company would continue to make more investments in communities around it.

“As Mimosa we want to leave a legacy to people around us and this project is a continuation of the livestock revitalization scheme we started in 2015 and thus we will continue to inject support in it till positive results come out,” he said.

Mahwite said the project is in line with the President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030. https://masvingomirror.com
