ZVISHAVANE – Platinum mining company, Mimosa has donated 6 000 exercise books to Lundi Primary and Dambudzo secondary schools under Chief Mapanzure in Zvishavane.
The books were handed over by Mimosa General Manager Stephen Ndiyamba at a function held at Lundi primary school grounds on Tuesday last week.
Important dignitaries who attended the function included the Minister of State for Midlands Larry Mavima and Acting Zvishavane District Schools Inspector Eusebia Zvinowanda.
The two schools received the donations after a hailstorm blew off roofing sheets from some classroom blocks late last year resulting in damages to books.
Speaking at the handover, Ndiyamba said Mimosa aims to leave a lasting legacy in the area they are operating in and will continue to invest beyond mining.
“We are gathered here as we are donating 6000 exercise books to Lundi and Dambudzo schools so as to cater for the children whilst we refurbish buildings affected by the storm. Our goal is to invest beyond mining so that we leave a lasting legacy in the community surrounding us.
“We are constructing a 1×2 classroom block at Lundi where we will put furniture too”, he said.
Dambudzo secondary is headed by Albert Mucheka with 228 pupils and Lundi is headed by Tariro Nyoni and has 540 pupils.
