Mentally challenged Chiredzi man ‘murders’ villager

MASVINGO – Police has arrested a mentally challenged Chiredzi man from Village 4, Mkwasine, Chiredzi after he allegedly assaulted a fellow villager to death last Wednesday.
Masvingo Police Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed Nyashadzashe Chivhadze (32) arrest to The Mirror. The incident happened around 6 pm.
Chivhadze allegedly struck Peter Mafunga (25) with a log all over the body which led to his death.
Circumstances are that Chivhadze who was staying at his grandmother’s place saw Peter pass by near the homestead.
Chivhadze took a log and went to the road where he struck Peter all over the body. He returned home after the assault.
Chivhadze’s nephew ran to the road and found Peter already dead. A Police report was filed leading to Chivhadze’s arrest.
Peter’s body was taken to Chiredzi General Hospital for postmortem. He had bled from the mouth and nose.
