MASVINGO -MDC A youth assembly national organising secretary, Godfrey Kurauone has been remanded to September 24, 2020 in a case in which he is charged for undermining the authority of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
He came to Masvingo Magistrates Court in leg irons this afternoon and his lawyer Martin Mureri of Matutu Mureri Legal Practitioners told The Mirror that he complained against the issue today.
Although Kurauone is remanded out of custody in this particular case, he is remanded in prison on two other cases brought against him by the State. He therefore came for his hearing from Masvingo Remand Prison and was taken back after the brief hearing.
The matter was postponed by Magistrate Patience Madondo after the State led by Malvern Mapako said it was seeking prosecution authority from the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Kurauone is accused of undermining Mnangagwa after he allegedly addressed commuters at Glow Petroleum Service Station in Masvingo telling them that the hardships that they face are caused by Mnangagwa and his sons who are looting from the State. The crime was committed in June this year.
Kurauone was arrested and charged on two other cases where he is accused of inciting people to participate in the July 31, 2020 demo and for blocking traffic in Mashava by barricading the road using stones. He was denied bail on both cases. https://masvingomirror.com
