Mbizo Cricket team bags first win

Sydney Mubaiwa

KWEKWE – Mbizo Cricket Team last week won its first game in the Cricket National Premier League (NPL).
The league’s debut contestant dismissed Golden Bulls with seven wickets at home, Kwekwe Sports Club.
Mbizo opening batsman Clifford Takaedza reached his first half-century in the league. He powered six fours and a six from 49 deliveries.
He set the team’s highest individual score in a one-day match with 63 runs from 58 balls. Takaedza was named man of the match.
He told The Mirror in an interview that this is a positive development for him and the club.
“This is a great achievement for me and the team. I dedicate this play to my team because we play as a united team. NPL is a tough league, and we have learned a lot. We will improve the type of play in the next fixtures,” he said.
Remarkable bowling from team captain Tafara Chingwara ripped through Golden Bulls as the team was bowled out for 130 runs in 29.3 overs. Mbizo closed the game in 20.4 overs with three dismissals.
Mbizo player-coach Ronald Masocha said they have identified gaps in their team and are now ready to fix the loopholes.
“We have lost nine games because we are still learning. However, we identified loopholes in our team.
“We are prepared for the next game, and we are looking forward to winning all the remaining three games because we now know our strengths and weaknesses,” he said.
