Mberengwa – Tafadzwa Sharlene Makunere (26), an environmentalist – Chief of Strategy and Operations with Young Miners Foundation (YMF) Zimbabwe was one of the seven participants from Zimbabwe at the United Nations Youths Innovators Design Boot Camp 2021 which ran from February 22 to 26, 2021.
The boot camp was held virtually.
Africa Regional Science Technology and Innovation forum is for empowering youths across Africa to develop innovative concepts that can help solve problems in the continent and the world at large using technology.
Speaking in an interview with The Mirror, Makunere said she is an environmentalist by profession and is currently doing a Master’s in Business Administration at the University of Zimbabwe.
She said that the UN programme will assist her in coming up with innovative concepts for Zimbabwe and Africa as they aim to achieve their Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
“The forum has enabled participants to share ideas as and to network. We had mentors from countries including Congo Brazzaville, South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, UN members from France and the UK,” said Makunere.
Partcipants at the boot camp were expected to present group concepts to the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) team in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Nanotechnology, Robotics and Entrepreneurship. https://masvingomirror.com
