Mberengwa DDF Coordinator Gwakuka dies

MBERENGWA- District Development Fund (DDF) Mberengwa coordinator Servious Gwakuka has died. He was 56.
He succumbed to cancer yesterday (Sunday) at his house around 4 am.
Mberengwa Roads Supervisor Noster Gumbo confirmed the death to The Mirror in an interview.
She said mourners are gathered at house number 23 DDF houses, Mberengwa Office, and Gwakuka will be buried tomorrow (Tuesday) at his rural home in Bricks Village, new resettlement areas, Mberengwa.

“Gwakuka became ill in 2017 and became seriously ill in December 2021 when his ear developed a wound. His health deteriorated in February 2023. He went to United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) for treatment. He was diagnosed with cancer.
“He was admitted for two weeks and discharged. He was not able to speak and had difficulties swallowing food. Gwakuka died peacefully yesterday around 4 am. He was a good workmate and advisor, his absence will be immensely felt,” said Gumbo.

Gwakuka attended Triangle Primary School before enrolling at Musume High School and Madenyika Secondary School in Mberengwa. He attained a degree in Developmental Studies in 2016 from Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU).
He began working at DDF formerly ADF as a casual clerk in Masvingo in 1988 and was promoted to stores clerk before being transferred to Harare where he worked as a Salaries clerk. He was again promoted to be a district accountant in Mberengwa in September 1998 and was again promoted to be the district coordinator, a post he held until his death.
Gwakuka is survived by his wife Rosemary Gono, and five children, one girl (Melody) and four boys (Austin, Artwell, Brine and Ronald).
