MBERENGWA-Mberengwa Assistant District Development Coordinator (DDC) Stewart Chiwanga has retired.
He retired on April 9, 2023, after turning 65 years.
Chiwanga served in the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works for 41 years.

A farewell party was held for him at Mberengwa Education Hall on Friday last week and attended by Chief Senator Ngungumbane, councillors, Acting Mberengwa Rural District Council (RDC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Percy Mwedzi, Government department heads and others.

Mberengwa Public Service Commission (PSC) District Coordinator Abias Mapurisa was the guest of honour.
Mberengwa DDC Vafious Hlavati described Chiwanga as a dedicated and disciplined man.
“We held a surprise farewell party for him at Mberengwa Education Hall. He reached his retirement age (65) on April 9, 2023. We called a meeting for all civil servants at his office to organise a surprise party for him. It was unanimously agreed, and an organising committee of seven people was set up.

“We received donations from chiefs, miners, the business community, councillors and Mberengwa RDC. The party was well organised and went well,” said Hlavati.
Chiwanga was born in Bonda, Manicaland and joined the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works on April 9, 1982.
He worked as an assistant DDC and then District Administrator (DA) in several districts. He is also a war veteran.
