Matsilele appointed Vic High acting head

MASVINGO – The Ministry of Education has appointed Victoria High School deputy head, Alington Matsilele as the acting head of the school with immediate effect following the departure of John Muzamani last week.

Masvingo District Schools Inspector (DSI) Ishmael Chigaba told The Mirror in an interview that Matsilele is serving in the capacity as acting head until the Ministry of Education appoints a replacement for Muzamani.
Muzamani left Vic High on Wednesday last week after a ruinous stay at the school which saw pass rates and living standards at the former academic giant plummet.

Matsilele confirmed the appointment but referred all questions to Chigaba.

“We are yet to appoint a new substantive head for Vic High. The deputy head will serve in that capacity until an appointment has been made. The matter is being taken to the Provincial Education Director who makes the decisions,” said Chigaba.

Meanwhile the Ministry of Education has remained mum over alleged abuse of office by Muzamani who was under investigation by the time he retired.

Muzamani was under investigation for abuse of school property by letting his son drive the school truck, alleged abuse of funds and several bullying cases at the school.
