MASVINGO – The three Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO) staffers killed in a road accident along Masvingo – Mutare Highway yesterday have been named by the Police.

They are William Mafarachisi from Rusape, Prince Chikunya from Bocha and Tawanda Kaponda from Chitungwiza. They worked in Masvingo where they supported services provided by Batanai HIV And Aids Services Organisation (BHASO).

In Manicaland they supported an organisation called Tsuro. They worked in the sexual reproductive health rights sector.

VSO Regional Project Coordinator, Teclah Ponde, confirmed the accident.

The deceased were involved in a fatal road accident at a 254 km peg along Mutare-Masvingo road. Their Toyota Hilux crashed head-on with a kombi.

The accident claimed five lives with two from the Kombi heading towards Jerera.
