Masvingo to hold 10 by-elections

MASVINGO – There are 10 by-elections that are going to be held in Masvingo following a proclamation by President Emmerson Mnangagwa last week.
The by-elections are two Parliamentary seats and eight local authority seats.


The Parliamentary seats are Chivi South that became vacant after Killer Zivhu was fired from Zanu PF and Mwenezi East where a vacancy arose following the death of Joosby Omar also of the same political party.


Four of the vacant council seats are in Masvingo City where the MDC T led by Mwonzora recalled Tarusenga Vhembo (Ward 3), Godfrey Kurauone (Ward 4) Daniel Mberikunashe (Ward 5) and Richard Musekiwa (Ward 7).


Chiredzi RDC has two vacant wards following the deaths of two Zanu PF councillors namely Ward

9 Councillor Mukachana Chauke and Ward 16 councillor Emmanuel Nyathi.
Chivi RDC has two vacant posts for Wards 8 and 24 following the deaths of Zanu PF councillors.
All the by-elections will be held on March 26, 2022 and the nomination court for MPs set will sit on January 26, 2022 at Masvingo Magistrates Court.
Zaka, Gutu, Bikita and Mwenezi are the districts in Masvingo which are not going to have and by-elections.
