MASVINGO – Some retail outlets in Masvingo are going to give massive discounts to their customers on Black Friday tomorrow.
Other outlets were still waiting for directives from their head offices in Harare on how to mark Black Friday.
Those that confirmed said that they were giving discounts to their customers but had not yet finalised anything by Wednesday as they were waiting for directives from their head offices.
Topics and Truworths are offering huge discounts to their customers. The Mirror established that some garments will go for as low as US$2.
The employees however, told The Mirror that they were not allowed to talk to the Press when they were contacted for comment.
Econet has reduced the prices of its Samsung A72 cellphones from $147 to $110 and A52 from $112 to $105 on the day.
They said they are not sure of the opening hours as they await instructions from their head office.
TV Sales and Home is also offering huge discounts on beds, televisions and sofas and they are opening at 730am instead of the normal 830am in order to accommodate more shoppers. They could not reveal the prices as they said they will only know the real prices on the day.
At Jet and Edgars employees were busy arranging their merchandise in preparation of the big day although they were not putting any prices.
“We are just arranging our stuff but we have not been given the products that will be on promotion on the day but expect big reductions especially on Denim,” said a worker at Jet.
At TM Pick N Pay the lady from head office who spoke to The Mirror promised shoppers very good discounts.
“I can confirm that it will be a hive of activity on Friday as we are going to reduce prices for most of our products. Although I can’t tell you the knock off percentage and the products on promotion, you will not be disappointed on the day,” said the lady.
The biggest bank in the country, CBZ is not being left out as it has also joined the jamboree by offering loans for the next 30 days which will be processed in 24hrs time as a bridging gap for their customers.
OK Mart also confirmed that they will join the extravaganza by offering discounts on selected products which will be made public on the day.
Black Friday started in 1952 in the USA on Thanksgiving Day and has since spread to the whole world with shoppers taking advantage of the day to buy various products at discounted prices.
