Masvingo boutique robbed of US$22 000 men, women suits

MASVINGO – Armed robbers struck an upmarket boutique in Masvingo on Monday night and got away with 26 men, 24 ladies suits (all labels) and other clothes with a value of more than US$22 000.

These are labels from Germany, Italy, United Kingdom ad Turkey and they include Alberto, Marcorenzi and Marco-renci.

Acting Masvingo Provincial Police spokesperson, Sergeant Lloyd Masundire confirmed the incident to The Mirror.

“We received the case and it’s under investigation. We urge anyone with helpful information to assist by alerting the police,” Said Masundire.

Sources said Police came after 2am after realising that they were going to deal with armed robbers. The suspects dropped some bullets at the scene and a few clothes outside the shop, said a source.

The four-gang member overwhelmed guards at Men in Black and Fabulous Boutique at Old Aroma Complex at around 11pm before they broke doors and windows and entered the shop.

Auxilia Ruvangu, a saleslady at the boutique also confirmed the incident to The Mirror.

The other stolen goods are 36 shirts, 4 blazers, 18 neckties, 3 rails of skirts, all blouses and various dresses.

“The robbers went away with almost everything in the boutique except t-shirts and shoes since we don’t display the full pair. The structure they broke needs RTGS$ 4 400 to maintain.

“The armed robbers forced guards at a nearby hardware to lie down while they removed screws to doors and burglar bars. They also broke a window pane before getting into the shops,”

The boutique was robbed again in 2018.
