MASVINGO – Many Zanu PF members are likely to miss the October 26-29, 2022 Zanu PF Congress because of tough financial and health entry conditions that have been put in place.

Politburo members will pay US$200, incoming and outgoing Central Committee (CC) members, National Consultative Assembly (NCA) members and MPs will pay US$100 while Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) members will part with US$50.

District Coordinating Committee (DCC) members will pay US$20 and sitting councillors will pay US$10.

This was said by Masvingo PCC secretary for finance Roy Bhila during an inter district meeting held at Masvingo Teachers College today. The meeting was attended by about 200 members from across the province.

As if to screen members further, a COVID-19 test certificate valid for 72 hours is required for everyone and these tests go for US$60.

In addition to the COVID-19 test certificate all attendees must be fully vaccinated with a booster shot.

Feeding and pregnant women are totally out of the party’s seventh National Congress, said Masvingo PCC secretary for administration Mathias Tongofa who was speaking on behalf of the PCC secretary for health.

The party’s provincial top brass including MPs and Ministers have been asked to provide food for members going to the Congress by Bhila.

The meeting was attended by PCC members, NCA members, incoming and outgoing CC members and DCC members.

“We have a memo from the national secretary for health and safety, Dr David Parirenyatwa. The memo states that pregnant and breast feeding women are barred from attending the congress.

“All members must have valid COVID-19 tests taken 72 hours before congress and those who are found positive will not attend the congress. There will be no hand shaking or hugging. We will adhere to strict World Health Organisation (WHO) protocols at the congress,” said Tongofa.
