However Manica Diamonds responded swiftly and restored parity in the 46th minutes courtesy of Marshal Mudehwe.

The match ended in a stalemate.

Craneborne Bullets coach Nisbert ‘Yabo’ Saruchera said he was aiming to collect maximum points.

“We have played Manica Diamonds before and we managed to beat them 1-0 so we knew they were going to come hard on us. We managed to collect a point which is a positive on our side although we wanted maximum points,” said Saruchera.

His opposite number Johanis Nhumwa said his side is still in the race.

“After such a long break, it’s not a bad result. We are still in the race for the super cup. The point we collected today is very important for us. We need to win the next two games then we will be fine,” he said.

Meanwhile, Tenax suffered a heartbreak after being beaten 2-0 by army side Black Rhinos.

Kick-off for the afternoon match was delayed as two Harare based match officials-centre referee Washington Chari and fourth assistant referee Pedzisai Chadya failed to arrive at the match venue on time.

The match which was supposed to kicked off at 3pm started 50 minutes late.

Tenax FC were reduced to 10 men after second half substitute Takinda Mapara was sent off for insulting the referee.

The army side scored through Gracious Mleya and Edgar Mhungu.

Tenax gaffer Shaddy ‘father’ Mugurasave pointed accusing fingers to the referee for failing to handle the match properly.

“It was a good game. we thought we were going to settle for a draw but the man in charge decided to separate the two teams,” he said.

Black Rhinos coach Hebert Maruwa said his team will continue to work hard in the next assignment.

“We had a good game today and managed to beat Tenax FC.We collected maximum points as per game plan. This is not an easy group, we need to continue to work hard in our next assignment,” said Maruwa.

Today’s results mean that Craneborne is now trailing Black Rhinos on second place with six points while Rhinos is on seven points. Manica Diamonds due to an inferior goal difference is anchoring the log with four points the same as Tenax. There are two games left for each team and they all stand a good chance to qualify for the next round. The next round robin games are on this Saturday at the same venue.
