MVUMA – A 52-year-old man from Bhudhe Village in Chirumhanzu appeared before Mvuma Magistrate recently for allegedly killing his brother-in-law over mangoes.

The incident happened on January 22 this 2023.

On January 22, 2023 John Munjanja visited his sister Muchaneta Munjanja (49) who resides in the same village with him. Munjanja was then given mangoes from the orchard by his sister but this did not go down well with Muchaneta’s husband Samson Maredzva (42).

Maredzva told John that he was being given the mangoes against his will and this led to a misunderstanding. Munjanja allegedly struck Maredzva several times on the upper body with a log and the latter succumbed to the injuries.

A report was made leading to the arrest of the suspect. The body of the now deceased was taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital.
