MASVINGO-Regional Magistrate Bishard Chineka has remanded a Gutu man (29) in custody to Friday for allegedly raping his niece (15).
Vandirai Mahembe of Plot 8, Grasslands B in Chatsworth allegedly showed his niece (name withheld) pornography before he ordered her to lie down to check if she was still a virgin. He then allegedly raped her.
Prosecutor Liberty Hove told the Court that the rape happened sometime in December 2022.
Circumstances are that Mahembe approached his niece at a grazing land where she was herding donkeys with a neighbour.
He then sent the neighbour to fetch water from a well 400 metres away. Mahembe then showed his niece some pornography and ordered her to lie down and remove her pant. He allegedly told her he wanted to check if she was still a virgin.
Mahembe told the minor that she was not a virgin and raped her.
