CHIREDZI – A man from Zaka has been remanded in prison for hitting his friend with a stove following a misunderstanding over a snatched girlfriend. Godknows Mukwena (30) assaulted Amos Tizirai as they were drinking because the latter’s friend snatched his girlfriend.

The matter was before Zaka Magistrate, Diana Masiiwa on Monday. The State said on July 26, at Zinwa Camp 2 Tuckshop at Zvidozvevanhu, Mukwena was drinking beer with Tizirai. The two had an argument about Tizirai’s friendship with Mukwena’s ‘enemy’ who snatched his girlfriend.

Mukwena got angry and lifted a metal stove and hit Tizirai on the forehead causing a deep wound. Mukwena is remanded to 23 August in custody. Mukwena was remanded in custody. Ellina Fatini prosecuted.
