CHIPINGE-Police in Manicaland is looking for a Chipinge man who struck his cousin with an axe thrice. The brother had assaulted his friend, Panganai Makuayana, for calling his wife a prostitute.
Manicaland Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Nobert Muzondo confirmed the matter.
He said Aaron Mazikupa (39) of Ngwarai Village, Chief Musikavanhu in Chipinge, is in critical condition at Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital.
Aaron was struck with an axe by his cousin Tedious Mazikupa on April 19, 2023, around 5 pm at Dombiso Tuckshop, Kori Business Centre in Chipinge.
He sustained deep cuts on the forehead, right hand and back.
Circumstances are that on the day, Aaron was drinking beer with his friend Philip Mutuvira while Tedious was drinking beer at the same business centre with Panganai Makuyana.
Panganai then approached Aaron and allegedly mocked him that he was staying with a prostitute.
Aaron charged at Panganai, slapped him, and whipped him once on the back.
Tedious went home and returned armed with an axe. He then charged at Aaron and struck him with the axe once on the forehead, right hand and back.
Tedious disappeared from the scene, and Aaron was rushed to Shekwa Clinic by his brother Farai. He was transferred to Chipinge District Hospital and further referred to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital.
Police are still looking for Tedious and are appealing for any information leading to his arrest.
