MASVINGO – Prominent Harare lawyer Rodgers Matsikidze has been appointed to the Council for Legal Education (CLE) board.
CLE is a statutory board that regulates legal education and training in Zimbabwe. It falls under the Legal Practitioners Act that was established in 1992.
Matsikidze, a managing partner at Matsikidze Attorneys At Law is one of the seven members of the board announced by the Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Ziyambi Ziyambi in the Government Gazette of September 17, 2021.
The board will be chaired by High Court Judge Slyvia Chirawu- Mugomba and the other board members are Deputy Attorney General Fortune Chimbaru, Dr Innocent Maja, Vulindlela Sibanda a partner at Mawere and Sibanda Legal Practitioners, Dr Innocent Maja a senior partner at Maja and Associates Commercial and Corporate Chambers and Ministry of Legal Affairs strategic policy planning and legal research director Tapiwa Godzi.
The previous board was chaired by Justice Annie-Marie Gowora who has since been elevated to the Constitutional Court.
The board will serve a three-year term from August 31, 2021.
The activities of the Council concern public interest and regulatory matters.
Matsikidze sits on the boards of several organisations including the National Blood Services Zimbabwe (NBSZ) were he is the chairman.
He is also the board chairman of Masvingo Mirror. He has won many accolades and he is the reigning Institute of Directors Board Chairman of The Year 2020.
