Land developer donates fuel to cash-strapped Gov Departs

Shurugwi – Cash-strapped Government departments have received fuel donations, courtesy of the benevolence of prominent land developer Smelly Dube.

Dube who was recently under investigation for alleged illegal sale of urban State land made donations of 100 liters of fuel each to Shurugwi District Hospital, Shurugwi Town Council and the District Administrator.

She owned vast tracts of land in Gweru, Shurugwi, Zvishavane and Bulawayo and the residential stands that she sold are under investigation.

The donations were made from Shurugwi Primary School in Shurugwi last Wednesday.

She also donated food hampers to over 100 disadvantaged people from both Shurugwi rural and urban.

The less privileged walked away with meal mealie, beans, rice, cooking oil, sugar, tea leaves, cremora and green bar soap.

Shurugwi District Administrator Langton Mupeta hailed Dube for the donations.

“I need to express my gratitude to Dube for assisting Government departments and the less privileged. We need more people like her,” said Mupeta.

Dube is one of the many land developers summoned by the Commission of Inquiry into the Sale of Urban State land headed by Justice Muchena. President Mnangagwa has since received the Commission’s report and a Committee to prosecute those found to have violated the law is being put in place.
