KWEKWE – Kwekwe City is planning to install five new traffic control lights at its busy intersections as the volumes of traffic increase phenomenally in the town.
The local authority’s director of works John Mhike confirmed the development to The Mirror.
“We have plans to install traffic lights at five busy intersections. The project was supposed to take off last year, but it failed due to budgetary constraints.
“This project is in this year’s budget and we are going to start by installing new traffic lights at Main highway, Maunganidze junction, Mbizo Road, Amaveni Road and at the pedestrian crossing at OK Supermarket where there are so many people crossing the road,” he said.
Mhike said the local authority was going to repair existing traffic lights which were vandalized.
