KWEKWE – Kwekwe Mayor Albert Zinhanga came second in the Best performing Urban Local Authorities awards which are organised by Government.
The awards were held at State House in Harare last Friday.
The first prize went to Mvurwi Mayor Tonderai Samhu while the third went to Plumtree Mayor Alderman Knowledge Ndlovu.
Zinhanga assumed the position of mayor a few months back following the recall of his predecessor Dr Henry Madzorera by self proclaimed secretary general for Citizens Coalition for Change in November last year.
Zinhanga told The Mirror that the award was an indication of hard work and teamwork between the councilors and management.
“I am happy for the city of Kwekwe. This award is for all of us as a city, it is an indication of the team work between the councilors, management, council employees and residents.
“There is stability at council and there is a huge improvement in terms of service delivery,” he said.
