KWEKWE – Magistrate Musaiona Shotgame has sentenced a Kwekwe man (name withheld) to 15 years in jail after convicting him of raping his seven year old stepdaughter.
The man (36) from Chimona compound in Munyati, Kwekwe was convicted on one count and he will be back in court next Wednesday for continuation of trial on another rape charge.
The State said that he raped his stepdaughter on two separate occasions.
Circumstances are that the man was left to look after the minor and he raped her once. He made her sit on his lap and raped her.
He then threatened to kill her and her mother should she disclose the matter to anyone.
He allegedly raped her again as her mother was sleeping in another room. The man called her into a kitchen and raped her before threatening to poison her food and her mother’s should she disclose the matter.
The mother noticed that her daughter had been sexually abused when she was bathing her. The girl complained of pain on her genital area.
The mother filed a Police report and a medical affidavit was produced as an exhibit in court.
Magistrate Shotgame highlighted that accused was supposed to be the one protecting the child as a fatherly figure and not abuse her.
