KWEKWE – Kwekwe General Hospital School of nursing is ill equipped and has archaic computers and textbooks that should be replaced, the hospital’s medical superintendent Dr Patricia Mapanda has said.
She told Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs during a handover of food stuffs on Wednesday that the shortcomings are hindering the provision of quality health care services.
The ceremony was attended by hospital staff, student nurses and other stakeholders.
She bemoaned that 44 nursing students are squashed in a tiny classroom while 27 midwifery students are also cramped in another small classroom.
“We offer two programs only one small classroom. We also need computers because our library is outdated and they will aid us in research. If these challenges are addressed this will improve the quality of training and improve our quality health delivery to the communities that we serve,” said Mapanda.
Ncube handed over groceries that include cooking oil, rice and soap that were bought using funds raised during the Midlands Independence Ball fundraising held on April 17, at King Solomon Hotel.
