KWEKWE – Kwekwe City Council has bought a US$6 500 boat that will be used for both patrolling Sebakwe Dam and for cruising by tourists.
Sebakwe Dam is the source of water for Kwekwe City Council and it is surrounded by Sebakwe Recreational Park, a popular tourist attraction.
Kwekwe Mayor, Albert Zinhanga confirmed the development and told The Mirror that the boat is important in the fight against fish poaching in the dam.
“We purchased a boat to enable us to patrol the dam in the fight against fish poaching. We also realised that it is good source of revenue for us because we have Sebakwe Recreational Park for tourists.
School children, organisations, individuals and even some people use the place as a wedding venue so the boat will be hired for cruises and bring revenue to council,” said Zinhanga.
