Mutasa – Government has ordered Knowstics Group of Schools to send all children back home with immediate effect after the private school re-opened last week against a government directive that all schools should re-open on July 28 2020.
The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Cain Mathema told The Mirror last week that his ministry will de-register for at least 12 months all defiant schools like Knowstics which re-opened without government approval.
According to a letter released by the school principal on Thursday all parents were advised to collect their children from the school on Friday.
The school informed parents that government has advised it to withdraw all students currently in school as a matter of urgency before the implementation of stringent lock-down guidelines to curb the spread of Covid-19.
“The school has been advised to withdraw all students currently in school as a matter of urgency before the implementation of stringent lock-down guidelines to curb the spread of Covid-19. The authorities have advised that the situation is still very fluid and it is impossible to establish a workable school and examination calendars.
“It is therefore pointless to keep these students in school when nobody really knows what lies in the future. Therefore we are kindly asking parents and guardians to collect all students from the school on July 17, 2020” reads part of the letter.
The school proceeded to re-open despite government advice and protests from parents who felt the decision was going to expose their children to Covid-19 virus.https://masvingomirror.com
