Juvenile opens shop after stealing spree

Mberengwa – An 18-year- juvenile from Mberengwa opened a shop at Neta Business Centre to sell goods that he had stolen after 18 successful break-ins, Mberengwa Magistrate Evia Matura was told.

Morven Matava (18) who comes from Mwenezi pleaded guilty to charges of unlawful entry and theft when he appeared in court on Thursday last week.

Matava stole several thousands of US$ worth of goods from all the 18 shops that he broke into. In one shop he walked away with US$4 184 worth of goods, said Prosecutor Hilda Chitemerere.

In all the cases, Matava used an iron bar to break padlocks and gain entry into the shops and the stealing spree started on November 26, 2020. When he had acquired lots of goods he opened a shop to start his own business.

He stole at various at business centres sometimes breaking into as many as three shops per night.

He stole at Mberengwa Turnoff, Yorks Business Center and Mberengwa Business Centre,

Some of the complainants in the case are Eslin Madzivire, Evidence Makotore, Shumirai Mpofu, Gumbo Simbarashe, Trust Mubvumi, Rudo Chakuya, Zhou Fadzai, John Marisa Dakamire and Jushua Mufundisi. https://masvingomirror.com
