MASVINGO – Investigations on an alleged physical scuffle between Helen McGhie head Sheila Deve and some members of staff have been completed and the report submitted to higher authorities.
Masvingo District Schools Inspector Ishmael Chigaba confirmed the development to The Mirror.
Chigaba said the report was submitted to him last week, a month after investigations began. He said a disciplinary process would begin and a report submitted to the Provincial Education Director (PED) Shylatte Mhike.
Chigaba however, refused to discuss the contents of the report.
Some of the allegations investigated are that Deve lifted a teacher’s dress and exposed her undergarments to ECD toddlers during one of the scuffles.
“A team that was setup to investigate Helen McGhie head Sheila Deve a month ago has completed its report and we are now moving into the disciplinary processes.
“We have a ministerial proces to follow and I cannot disclose the contents of the report to the media or parents. Once all processes are complete we will submit a report to the PED,” said Chigaba.
Another investigation was carried out on Deve early this year after parents wrote a petition alleging corruption in the school. The results of the first investigation are yet to be availed to the parents.
Provincial Education Director (PED) Shylatte Mhike said the matter is under investigation and she will receive a report once all processes are completed.
Allegations are that Deve has a physical altercation with an ECD teacher whose dress she lifted up thereby exposing her undergarments in front of ECD toddlers.
Deve again had an altercation with another ECD teacher and on both occasions she had to be restrained by other members of staff.
