Illegal gold miner’s hands severed in fight over mine

Zhombe – A 37year old Zhombe man reportedly lost his hands in a fight over a gold mine over the weekend.
The incident happened at St Andrews Business Center, Zhombe under Chief Gwesela.
Reports are that Tichaona Chiremba was attacked be fellow miners with Columbian knives and his hands were chopped leaving them hanging by thin skins.
The accused in the case are Maibongo Ngwalati, Jerry Kwenya, Nathan Mdudusi and Mdudusi Kwenya all from Lwisani, Village under Chief Gwesela.
Chiremba is currently battling for his life at Zhombe Mission Hospital.
Midlands Police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident.
“A 37 year old man was severely assaulted by four men until he fell unconscious. The incident happened at St Andrew’s Business Centre, in Zhombe area under Chief Gwesela on Friday 24 May 2024 at about 5pm,” said Inspector Mahoko. Allegations are that, the four suspects approached the victim at St Andrews Business Centre accusing him of having been involved in a misunderstanding with them over gold mining.
The police have launched a manhunt for the culprits involved in the attempted murder incident.
“We are asking for information from the public that could lead to the arrest of the suspects,” said Inspector Mahoko.
