MASVINGO – Motorists be warned who you pick!

Chakadonha Zheke (45) was on Monday last week at around 5pm attacked by two unknown armed men who asked for a lift from Joma Bus Garage in the industrial area to Zimre Park which is about 2km away.

Masvingo Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the incident to The Mirror.

“ZRP received a report and investigations are underway. We call upon the members of public with information to assist us in pursuing the culprits,” said Inspector Dhewa.

Zheke was driving from GZU School of Education where he had gone to drop a passenger and on reaching Joma he was stopped by two men wearing work suits.

They asked him for a lift to Zimre Park and offered to pay US$4 and on reaching Zimre Park they ordered the complainant to stop the car. The passenger seated at the backseat produced a machete and stabbed the complainant on the neck demanding valuables.

The one sitting in the front passenger seat immediately produced an okapi knife and placed the same demands on Zheke. The robbers conducted a search and went away with US$48 and an Itel phone.https://masvingomirror.com
