CHIREDZI – Long serving Hippo Valley High teacher, Daniel Gwasvava is no more.
Gwasvasva, frequently referred to as a senior bachelor died on Friday last week and he was buried at Mudzitiri Village, Chief Gadzingo in Gutu. At 57 Gwasvava was still staying alone.
His brother, Emmanuel Gwasvava confirmed the death to The Mirror.
Many are going to remember him as a typical bookworm, always carrying a satchel of books on his back. He was also affectionately known by the name The Shona Teacher. He always shared witty jokes.
He taught Shona and Religious education studies and spent 32 years at Hippo.
He was mysterious in death as he was in life. On Friday neighbours at hippo Valley Cottage did not see him clutch his bag of books to school. They became curious and worried at the same time. They knocked at his door and there was no answer.
They broke there and a sad picture greeted them.
Gwasvava’s lifeless body sat on the couch, his head bowed on the coffee table. The Shona teacher was no more.
Emmanuel suspected that Gwasvava died on Thursday because his body was starting to decompose when it was retrieved on Friday .
Gwasvava died of suspected Asthma attack and was buried at his home in Mudzitiri village, Chief Gadzingo in Gutu on Sunday morning.
Former Chiredzi Rural District Council Chief Executive Officer, Isaac Matsilele was shocked about Gwasvava’s demise.
“Oh shame what happened to my teacher. He will be sadly missed. Rest in peace sir,” wrote Matsilele.
“That’s devastating news, so so sad. One of the most committed educators I have ever interacted with,” wrote Neph Tembo on Facebook.https://masvingomirror.com
