Chirundu – Zimra station manager at Chirundu Border Post identified as Maisiri was recently involved in a high-speed chase with 4 constables from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) who were allegedly caught smuggling goods from Zambia.

Zimra has since written a letter to Police Headquarters to investigate constables Brian Kafamauro (39), Olassio Ngirazi (29), Tinago Dube (38) and Kudzanai Karimakwenda (30) for smuggling, according to documents in the hands of Two Nations.

On October 14, 2020 constable Kafamauro was driving a Toyota Hiace registration number ACQ 6735 and in the same car was constable Ngirazi and they were crossing the border from Zambia into Zimbabwe. When they reached the Zimbabwean boom gate, the guards did not open and constable Ngirazi disembarked from the vehicle and allegedly opened the boom gate.

Constable Kafamauro drove through and behind was another vehicle being driven by constable Dube who also drove through the boom gate without stopping for formalities.

Maisiri who was driving behind the two cars picked up an armed member of the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) and chased after the two cars. He only caught up with them after the Toyota Hiace developed a fault.

On October 15, 2020 constable Karimakwenda facilitated the entry of a Toyota Quantum which drove through the boom gate at high-speed sending guards running away for safety.

Efforts to get a comment from the Police were futile.

Some of the smuggled goods included clothes, footwear, braids and cigarettes.
The letter to PGHQ was written by T. Manyika who represented Zimra Commissioner General. https://masvingomirror.com
