This year, the High Court in Masvingo gave life sentences to six murderers in two different cases. Sheperd Chinhari (44), Kudakwashe Nyashanu (37), Needmore Chipoterwa (27) and Edson Dhonza (26) were sentenced to life behind bars for the murder of Rutendo Ndega.
The quartet threw Ndega and her husband, Obvious Nhokovedza into a disused mine shaft near Wimpy in Masvingo leading to Ndega’s death. The four threw the couple after robbing them of money and valuables.
In the other case, two murderers Elias Chimbuya(26) and Adonia Moyo hit Tafadzwa Chiumba with 17 bricks on the head until they crashed his face. They then mutilated his manhood with a knife leaving it hanging on thin skin. Chiumba had bought a twist of dagga from the two for US$0.50 using a US$5 note and an altercation arose after the two refused to give him his change.
