MASVINGO – The High Court has closed the second term and will only be attending to urgent chamber applications and bail hearings.
The High Court, Supreme and Constitutional Courts closed on Friday last week.
The third term will commence on September 5, 2022, according to dates gazetted by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) in General Notice 2932 of 2021. The third term will end on November 25, 2022.

Meanwhile, the High Court third term circuit in Gweru will commence on September 19-30, 2022 and October 3-14, 2022, in Hwange.
In its second term, the High Court in Masvingo gave life sentences to six murderers in two different cases.
Shepherd Chinhara (44), Kudakwashe Nyashanu (37), Needmore Chipoterwa (27) and Edson Dhonza (26) were sentenced to life behind bars for the murder of Rutendo Ndega.

The quartet threw Ndega and her husband, Obvious Nhokovedza, into a disused mine shaft near Wimpy in Masvingo, leading to Ndega’s death. The four threw the couple after robbing them of money and valuables.
In another case, award-winning Masvingo artist Elias Chimbuya (26) and an accomplice Adonia Moyo also received the same sentence for murdering Tafadzwa Chiumba (35) over a twist of dagga.

The two hit Chiumba with 17 bricks on the head until they crashed his face. They then mutilated his manhood with a knife leaving it hanging on thin skin.
Chiumba bought a twist of dagga from the two for US$0.50 using a US$5 note, and an altercation arose after the two refused to give him his change.https://masvingomirror.com
