Health Ambassadors hold outreach in Chivi

CHIVI–Health Ambassadors held a medical outreach at Maringire Primary School, Ward 22 under Chief Nemauzhe in Chivi on Saturday where over a thousand villagers received free medical check-ups and medicine.
Chivi Central Zanu PF aspiring candidate and medical doctor at Chivi Mission Hospital Tapiwa Murambi led the outreach and promised to make health care his priority if elected.
The nearest clinic, Zivuku is 10 kilometres away and the elderly villagers struggle to get medical services.
Villagers received clinical services including HIV testing, Counselling, medicine, nutrition services, dental health services, Blood Pressure and Tuberculosis tests.
Murambi told The Mirror that health services should be made a priority for all communities.
“Health services are essential in any community and we should take charge in ensuring that every villager has access to them. A health community is a health national and it is one of priorities to address once I am elected. I have the people of Chivi at heart,” said Dr Murambi.
Chivi district Ambassodors4ED Chairperson Felistus Nyamadzawo said they chose Maringire because villagers struggle to access health care services.
“Our main objective is to bring free health services to all. We chose Maringire because villagers have a hurdle in accessing health services,” said Nyamadzawo.
The health ambassadors also has a team of doctors who will be conducting surgical tests and cancer screening in the area free of charge.
Zanu PF Chivi District Coordinating Committee (DCC) secretary for Health Tyanai Tevera applauded the ambassadors for the outreach.
“We are grateful to the health ambassadors for remembering Maringire and other surrounding areas by bringing free health services to our area. The heavy turn up of villagers shows that there is really a need for such services,” said Tevera.
Maringire is in Ward 22 of Chivi and is one of the wards that was moved from Chivi south to Chivi Central in last year’s delimitation exercise. It has 24 villages and no single clinic despite being one of the biggest ward in the district.
