Shurugwi – Headman Pisira born Fani Maganyani (90) of Shurugwi is no more.
He died at his rural home at Maganyani Village under Chief Banga on April 9, 2024 having been ill for many years.
Appointed in 2004, he is the fourth headman after the establishment of the headmanship in 1962.
The Pisira people whose totem is Shumba murambwi’s earliest known place of origin is Musana Bindura. They later moved to Chivi because of colonialism and from Chivi they moved to their present day location under Chief Banga.
Shurugwi District Development Coordinator Romeo Shangwa represented the Minister of Local Government and Public Works at the burial.
“He was a hardworking leader who spearheaded different projects which includes electrification of institutions in his area and establishment of business centres in line with the President’s mantra of leaving no one and no place behind,” said Shangwa.
Chief Toendepi Banga said he had lost a great servant who was dedicated to his work.
Pisirai area covers primary schools Gundura, Makonde, Dhlodhlo, Jongwe New and Old Gato and the secondary schools are Dombotombo New Gato.
