Chikomba – Two people were killed in a head-on accident that occurred at the 44km peg along Chivhu – Harare Road on Sunday.
Mashonaland East Police spokesperson Inspector Simon Chazovachii confirmed the accident.
Circumstances are that on March 3 Tanyiswa Maxwell (32) was driving a Honda Fit towards Harare with no passengers on board. He tried to overtake another vehicle in front of an oncoming car, a Honda Fit as well.
The other vehicle was being driven by Addington Bhiza (37) and this resulted in a head-on collision that saw both cars overturning on the same side of the road.
Two passengers died from the vehicle that was coming from Harare; one on the spot and the other on admission at Beatrice Hospital.
“Motorists should follow stipulated speed on the particular sections of the road. Drivers should avoid unnecessary overtaking”, said Chazovachii.
