MASVINGO–Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) has extended its second national art exhibition at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo to May 31, 2023.
The exhibition running under the theme ‘Unlocking the Interfaces’ began on March 23, 2023 and was supposed to end on May 1, 2023.
GZU Art and Design Department exhibition coordinator Dr Dairai Darlington Dziwa confirmed the development to The Mirror.
He said the exhibition was extended owing to interest shown by gallery viewers.
“The exhibition has been extended for another month as a result of the interest shown by gallery viewers. The exhibition has also attracted a number of prospective art creatives and some want to enroll with GZU to pursue Creative Art and Design or Fine Arts.
“The exhibition is successfully covering aspects as economic issues and COVID-19. Several provocative artworks were showcased which are generating critical consciousness and constructive dialogue on many contemporary issues affecting the world today. We are still expecting more high schools with art subjects to attend the exhibition,” said Dr Dziwa.
The exhibition is revolving around gender issues as gender balance, gender identity, gender-based violence.
Some of the paintings were done by oil, watercolor, acrylic, multimedia, metal sculptures and print graphic design
