MASVINGO – Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) Department of Technical Education is holding its second annual national art exhibition at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo.
The exhibition began yesterday (March 23, 2023) and will end on May 1, 2023 under the theme; ‘Unlocking the Interfaces’.
GZU Art and Design Department exhibition coordinator Dr Dairai Darlington Dziwa confirmed the development to The Mirror. The department of technical education is under the Robert Mugabe School of Heritage and Education.

The exhibition was officially opened by the faculty’s dean Professor Munyaradzi Manyanga yesterday and National Gallery of Zimbabwe Director for the Southern region, Matebeland South and North, Silenkosi Moyo was the guest of honor.
Dziwa said the exhibition will mostly revolve around gender issues as gender balance, gender abuse, gender identity and social issues as holding on to heritage among others.

“The show has begun and we are excited. The event will also look on other aspects as economic issues and COVID-19. Several provocative artworks are being showcased which will generate critical consciousness and constructive dialogue to many contemporary issues affecting the world today.
“The way participants see the world will never be the same again. Some of the paintings were done by oil, watercolor, acrylic, multimedia, metal sculptures and print graphic design. Bulawayo’s Founder’s High School and Kadoma’s Jameson High are already here and we are expecting more High schools with art subjects to attend the exhibition,” said Dziwa.
