GWERU – A 27 -year -old man from Shurugwi has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for the brutal murder of his 94-year -old grandmother whom he accused of witchcraft.
Takudzwa Mugariri was arraigned before the High Court Judge Munamato Mutevedzi in Gweru on charges of murder following the incident which occurred on 3 February this year. According to court papers, Mugariri of Marozva Village under Chief Banga in Shurugwi repeatedly struck his grandmother Easther Marozva (94) with a log accusing her of witchcraft.
The severe blows led to her death.
The court was told that, Mugariri burnt his grandmother’s clothes before committing the crime.
